I am going to be going to college in the fall for Fisheries%26amp;Wildlife Technology at SUNY Cobleskill.What are some good jobs that has to do with wildlife?
Are you taking an Intro to Fish %26amp; Wildlife course during your first term?





This is a class designed to help inform you of the many fields that you can get into with a Fisheries/Wildlife major.





There are a lot of fields to choose from. For example: If you work on getting your Fisheries degree, you will be working at state/local fisheries caring for, researching and raising different types of fish.





One of the most interesting fisheries happens to be the one out in Ennis, MT. (I provided a link) where the scientists there are working in collaboration with scientists in Japan to study the effects of whirling disease in trout.





Other career fields go as follows:





Wild horse management, game warden, Aquatic consulting, state wildlife biologist, research in fish diseases, wildlife veterinary research, etc..





Also take into account that you may have to do things like population control/research that may not be favorable to you. If you're looking to save animals exclusively, this may not be for you.





Getting your masters degree this major and getting as much volunteer work/experience in animal related jobs is advised.

I actually work as a Fisheries Technician (actually working out of class as a Natural Resources Specialist) with a state agency on the West Coast and love it. I have a Bachelor's degree although if you want to advance to higher positions, a graduate degree is highly emphasized. The money's not all that great but the lifestyle involved with my job fits right up my alley. Lots of time outside, low-stress, and working with the natural resources is what I was looking for in a career. Good luck with what you're looking for.
I don't know what it's called but it would really cool to work where they save injured wildlife.
