What are some unique wildlife creatures in Japan not found in other countries?

A Habu (娉㈠竷) is any of four species of venomous snakes found in the Ryukyu Islands, Okinawa,Japan. The habus are all pit vipers that belong to the genus Trimeresurus whose other members are found throughout southeast Asia. The habu venom present in the sake (Japanese wine %26amp; along with a dead snake on the bottom) is reputed to increase male virility %26amp; is very expensive. Some less expensive bottles have the venom but no snake in the bottom. What are some unique wildlife creatures in Japan not found in other countries?
I think they are also found in China but the Tanuki (raccoon dog) is a very Japanese animal. It is heavily saturated in folklore here. Most houses and restaurants (where I live in Fukui Prefecture) will have a little tanuki figurine either outside the front door or in the genkan (entrance hall). What are some unique wildlife creatures in Japan not found in other countries?
