Good luck.Does Anyone Know of the Nat'l Wildlife Federation Backyard Wildlife Habitat Program ?
Sounds like a very good program. I've always done this type of thing without the certification and all.

The certification would be cool especially if you want to belong to any local gardening clubs etc.

My dad was a conservationist and got me into planting stuff, so I've planted literarly hundreds of trees. Even plant ones out here in the desert and try to incorporate stuff that will attract humingbirds and butterflies as we get them almost year round. Don't get anywhere near the amount of animals I'm used to from back east out in the country where I used to live though.

I like the idea of getting rid of a lawn and just having wildflowers, but it's still a lot of work.Does Anyone Know of the Nat'l Wildlife Federation Backyard Wildlife Habitat Program ?
iv'e heard of it,but i would never want it in my yard.i want to do what i want in my own yard and do not want other people telling me how it should be.. i feed the birds and other wildlife, and we manage fine!
Yes, you can find it on their website and has some very good ideas on what to do to bring wildlife back in your garden. Our garden club has been urging people to plant an area in their yard and get it certified since we have lost so much agricultural land our monarch population is down around 45%. We hope to boost awareness and try to help bring the population back.
Yep. I'm a member and my backyard has been certified. It is surprising how much your existing backyard has that is good for wildlilfe. Follow this link for a fun ';quiz'; about your backyard and to see if you qualify. http://www.nwf.org/backyard.
