Why is the wildlife in the Redwood Forests rarely seen?

Okay, so I have homework and I can't find this anywhere! I found the wildlife in the forests - Stellar Jay, Chickadee, Raccoons, Banana Slug, Hummingbirds...but why are they rarely seen? Please help!!Why is the wildlife in the Redwood Forests rarely seen?
For the same reason that they're rarely seen elsewhere--these are all prey animals/birds, etc., and have a healthy fear of man. Their senses are more acute than ours, so they're aware of us before we're aware of them, and they disappear when we approach.
